🗓️ Detailed 7-Day Mount Kenya Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Nanyuki (1,950 m)
Morning transfer from Nairobi to Nanyuki. Lunch, rest, and an evening walk to the Equator Line for acclimatization.
Overnight: Simba’s Lodge | Dinner included
Day 2: Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300 m)
Drive to Sirimon Gate and trek 9 km through moorland and forest to Old Moses Camp.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Mountain huts
Day 3: Old Moses – Shipton’s Camp (4,200 m)
Ascend through Mackinder’s Valley with dramatic views of Batian and Nelion.
Purpose: High-altitude acclimatization
Overnight: Shipton’s Camp
Day 4: Shipton’s – Austrian Hut (4,780 m)
Short but steep ascent to Austrian Hut, positioning you perfectly for summit day.
Overnight: Austrian Hut
Day 5: Summit Day – Batian & Nelion Peaks
Pre-dawn start. Cross Lewis Glacier, rope up, and begin the technical rock climb on Standard IV & V routes to Batian and Nelion.
Descend to Mackinder’s Camp after summit success.
Climbing Time: 10–14 hours
Day 6: Mackinder’s – Met Station
Descend via Naro Moru route through alpine forest and moorland.
Overnight: Met Station
Day 7: Met Station – Nairobi / Samburu Safari
Final descent to Naro Moru Gate. Transfer back to Nairobi or continue to Samburu Game Reserve.
