A safari circuit to Ngorongoro Crater, The Serengeti, Lake Manyara, Tarangire National Park ,Olduvai Gorge, Arusha and Kilimanjaro

SRTS 021: 3 DAYS - LAKE MANYARA - NGORONGORO - TARANGIRE

Tarangire Sopa LodgeDAY 1: Board shuttle bus at 08:00 hrs to the border town of Namanga where you will clear customs and immigration formalities. Proceed into Tanzania to Arusha town. On arrival you will be dropped at your hotel for overnight.

DAY 2: LAKE MANYARA.
Depart from Arusha at 09:30hrs for Lake Manyara arriving in good time for lunch. After Lunch explore Lake Manyara National Park which covers an area of only 318 sq km its terrain is so diverse that its mammal and bird lists are most impressive. The park includes much of Lake Manyara, some 60 km (38 miles) long as well as the Rift Valley escarpment.

The park is well known for its tree climbing lions which can be found lazing on branches of the acacia trees. In addition there are good numbers of elephants, big herd of buffalo and plenty of leopard. The lake is a favorite place for pink flamingos and wading birds in general. This area is home to the Masai people whom you will see  as you pass through the villages. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 3: NGORONGORO
After early breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro crater with game drive enroute; where you descend 2000ft for a fascinating game drive on the crater floor. In a landscape reminiscent of the volcanic upheavals of the Rift Valley, the world's largest unbroken, un flooded volcanic caldera (collapsed cone of a volcano) covers 300 sq km.

In this restricted space, exceptional climatic conditions have favoured an explosion of animal life. Some 20,000 great mammals are permanently in residence, as there are permanent water springs here there is no need to migrate.  Picnic lunch will be served. Enjoy game viewing at the crater until late in the afternoon when you ascend back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: TARANGIRE
After breakfast depart Ngorongoro for a half-day game drive in the Tarangire National Park. Many of the animals congregate around the only source of permanent water in the park, the Tarangire River. This is the best place in Tanzania to see really big herds of elephants of up to 300 at a time on safari. After lunch drive back to Arusha. On your arrival you will be dropped at your hotel for overnight.

SRTS 022A: 5 DAYS - TARANGIRE - LAKE MANYARA - SERENGETI - NGORONGORO

DAY 01: Nairobi - Arusha: Board shuttle bus at 08:00 hrs to the border town of Namanga where you will clear customs and immigration formalities. Proceed into Tanzania to Arusha town. On arrival you will be dropped at your hotel for overnight.

Day 02: Arusha - Tarangire National Park
You will be picked up at around 0930am and depart to Tarangire National Park for the Game drive. Tarangire is most spectacular during the dry season when thousands of animals migrate into the park from the surrounding dry Maasai steppe, to use the permanent water supply of the Tarangire River. You can see herds of elephants, numbering over a hundred.

Tarangire is also renowned for its tree pythons, which are easily seen. The animal population in the dry season rivals that of the Serengeti with wildebeest, zebra, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, gerenuk, fringe eared Oryx and flocks of birds of many different species. Prime game viewing is between July through November. The famous and giant baobab trees dot the park, their branches looking just like roots. Some of the baobab trees are over 300 years old.

Legend has it that a displeased god turned them upside down at the time of creation. All meals and overnight at Zion Campsite / Lodge.

Day 03: Tarangire - Lake Manyara
Breakfast at around 0700am. Thereafter drive to Lake Manyara National Park for the Game drive. Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree climbing lions and large flocks of flamingoes.

The park contains five distinct vegetation zones and is of scenic beauty. Picnic Lunch will be served in the Park/Hot Lunch at the camp. Drive to the plunging walls of the great rift valley where lies Lake Manyara National Park the Hemingway camped in the hunting safari that inspired his book, Green hills of Africa.

Afternoon Game drive in the Park. Late afternoon drive for dinner and overnight at Campsite / Lodge.

Day 04: Lake Manyara - Serengeti National Park
Breakfast at around 0630am. Depart for Serengeti with lunch en route. On arrival, proceed for a game drive. The park covers 12,944km2 of open plains making it one of the largest in the world.

The rocky outcrops commonly known as Moru kopjes in the eastern part of the park are of scenic beauty and occasionally cats can be seen lazing on them. The park contains vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes. Dinner and overnight at the Seronera Campsite / Lodge.

Day 05: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Very early Game drive in the vast Serengeti plain. Breakfast at around 0900am. Proceed with another game drive en route to Ngorongoro Crater rim via Olduvai Gorge for dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite / Lodge.

Day 06: Ngorongoro - Arusha
Breakfast at around 0600am. Take Picnic Lunch with you and descend the Ngorongoro Crater floor for the Game drive. View the various resident animals on the crater floor. The largest unbroken caldera in the world, Ngorongoro has an area of 260 kilometers and a depth of 610 meters.

The crater provides a protected habitat for thousands of mammals and birds. The entire day is spent on the crater floor viewing lion, hyena, wildebeest, zebra, black rhinoceros, and many species of small antelopes. The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area is located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara. It is home to the famous Ngorongoro Crater which is the largest unbroken caldera in the world.

It is one of the few places in Africa where you stand a very good chance of seeing the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant) in the course of a game- drive.

There are around 1000 lions in the Crater, approximately 20 black rhino, and the spectacular Lerai Forest is one of the best places in Africa to spot leopard. This is one of the natural wonders of the world. Picnic Lunch in the Crater. Afternoon before 0330pm drive to Arusha. On your arrival you will be dropped at your hotel for overnight.

This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. Dinner and overnight at the Seronera
campsite/lodge.

DAY 03: SERENGETI - NGORONGORO
After breakfast, depart Serengeti and drive to Ngorongoro crater. Game drive
and Picnic Lunch en route to Ngorongoro Simba campsite for dinner and
overnight/lodge.

DAY 04: NGORONGORO - LAKE MANYARA
Breakfast at around 0600am. Take Picnic Lunch with you and drive fifteen

DAY 05: LAKE MANYARA - ARUSHA - NAIROBI
Depart for Lake Manyara, the old Hunter's paradise. This is home to the

famous tree climbing lions which you are however not guaranteed to see. On the Lake shore you will find thousands of flamingoes and other water birds conducting their daily business amongst the hippos. After a lunch break at the camp you continue viewing Lake Manyara Park famous for its tree climbing lions and large flocks of flamingoes.

The park contains five distinct vegetation zones and is of scenic beauty. Branch breakfast at the campsite and drive back to Arusha before 0100pm for the shuttle Bus back to Nairobi.flamingoes. Spend the afternoon at the Crater, in the evening drive back to Arusha.

DAY 01: ARUSHA - TARANGIRE
Depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park. Tarangire (pronounced as
Taa-raa-nghee-reh) National Park is one of the few national parks in

Tanzania, who flora and fauna have not been elaborately described to
prospective guest, making the park being overlooked and skipped during the
Tanzania's northern circuit safaris.
Zebras in NgorongoroGame drive and Picnic Lunch will be
served in the Park.

Throughout the year there are always a fantastic number of colourful birds swooping and strutting along the rough paths in front of your vehicle, with likely spots including the Paradise Whyder and endearing Yellow-collared lovebirds. Tarangire is a great spot for elephant gatherings
at the end of the rainy season in June, and zebra and wildebeest return together through July. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.

DAY 02: TARANGIRE - SERENGETI PARK
After breakfast, leave Tarangire for Serengeti with lunch en route. On
arrival, proceed for a game drive. The park covers 12,944km2 of open plains
